Jackson & Chelsea
Captain Jackson Haley and Chef Chelsea Lashua
Captain Jackson and Chef Chelsea hail from Westminster, Massachusetts and over the past 6 years have transformed into a enthusiastic, highly experienced and capable team. Their passion for the outdoors, sailing and travel have culminated into a winning combination on the S/Y Sweetest Thing.
Chelsea Lashua describes herself as having a strong passion for "people and places". Her love of travel and food comes from a childhood of family vacations, sailing up and down the New England coast and spending weeks at a time cruising the crystal waters of the BVIs. In college, Chelsea studied Communications with an emphasis on Tourism and Hospitality management. It was during her Junior year that she spent a semester abroad in Italy and for 3 months, she participated in coursework as well as many Italian cooking classes. This experience, combined with 5+ years of experience in the high end restaurant industry, has instilled Chelsea with the proper tools to offer a first class vacation experience. She loves to cook everything and anything, and while her favorite meals to prepare involve seafood, Chef Chelsea combines her cooking knowledge with a uniquely-styled creative touch to create stunning results. Other interests of Chelsea's include SCUBA, volunteering in the community a!nd simply being outside.
Captain Jackson wears many hats. His titles include fish biologist, dive master, diesel mechanic, eco-tour guide and all-around "adventurer". Hailing from coastal New England, Jackson's fascination with the sea was cultivated at a young age. He spent summers on the water, teaching sailing and guiding tours, and when he wasn't sailing, Jackson could be found working the docks, learning maintenance and honing his craft. He received a BS in Fish and Water Sciences from UMass in 2013. Later that year, the couple moved to San Diego, where Jackson earned his 50GT Captain's License and went on to operate dive boats, manage a fleet of over 70 watercraft and in his spare time, lead educational kayak and bicycle tours in the bay area. Jackson's vast background and love for the outdoors, education and sailing promises guests with a captain that is as informative as he is interesting!!..read more
When their powers combine, Jackson and Chelsea form a team that offers a comprehensive vacation experience to guests of all ages. Together, they provide their guests with first-class sailing vacations and combine their extensive backgrounds to offer a one of a kind experience that can only be found on S/Y Sweetest Thing!

They didnt have to, but sent a cab for us at the airport, so that we would have a familiar face to help us.
They give a map to the group with our dive sites and moorings for the day & nites markedgreat touch.
They go out of their way to make sure we are doing what we wanted, and are kept informed of what we are going to do, etc.
They also shared some new locations/moorings and dive sites that we hadnt explored before.

We were met by Jackson at the dock and invited aboard with drinks in the making. Chelsea's energetic smile and abilities with that very small kitchen is AMAZING. We were not only offered 3 meals a day, the appetizers, munchies, deserts and everything else were off the charts. (Yes we can be picky at times, but we didn't miss a thing offered throughout the trip.)
While traveling through the islands, the ship always seemed to navigate with ease under Jackson and Chelsea's direction. We were excited to see a new bay, hideaway, or just a coastline change each and every day. Often times several times a day. (In some strange way I actually felt sad for the people we would come across as their view wasn't changing several times a day like ours....) To be honest it was like nothing we had experienced before.
If I had to explain why someone would want to choose the Sweetest Thing over another ship, well how about: Awesome drinks always on tap (blended, shaken or stirred)(Painkillers, Bushwackers and more), amazing chef quality meals (baked, grilled, seared and then some), DESSERTS.... enough said, navigation of island stops that keep you begging for more, dive locations that felt like you're dropping into a pet store aquarium, and, most importantly, a crew that kept raising the bar for fun and entertainment.
We started the trip with a smile but ended with the best memories we've ever had travelling. If someone is even close to considering this ship or crew, do not hesitate. Book it immediately!! Otherwise someone else will be having your trip of a lifetime instead.
Thank you so much, we will be booking again in the future.

For the both of you, never forget to take time to spend with just each other. Valerie and I are first friends, then second a husband & wife. We are so lucky to have this and hope others do too.

We had a great time as well. We absolutely enjoyed Brad and Lesli. She blew me away with her Gluten Free Meals. I for once didnt feel like the freak at the table and I never got sick. I think Craig and I both gained about 10 lbs. I would highly suggest her for anyone that needs Gluten Free Meals. She did state that she has accommodated other people with dietary restrictions as well.
Just wanted to say Thank You! Crystal and I had a Great time on The Sweetest Thing, Brad and Lesli were awesome! I know the rest of our group had fun as well.
This was a first for Crystal and I, and something we will do again. The food on the cruise was also very good!
Brad and Lesli did an outstanding job as captain and first mate. They were very friendly and attended to every request in a polite, courteous and efficient manner. The boat was well provisioned exactly as we had requested on our preference sheet. Brad even took special requests for his runs ashore. We couldn't have asked for a better crew! Brad's experience as captain gave everyone aboard a sense of security and calm. He really seemed intent on making our days in the Caribbean the absolute best. He succeeded!
Brad and Lesli were constantly cleaning and did an excellent job with respect to the boat. Although we didn't spend a lot of time in the cabins, they were comfortable and well ventilated.
Lesli's presentation at dinner was as good as in any high-end restaurant and her desserts were simply outstanding!
The area we sailed is rated as among the most beautiful on earth. We all certainly concur with that assessment.
