CUAN LAW CREW
James Bailie. James is a 45 year old ex Navy Seal. He did 13 years in the Seals ending as a Seal Instructor. He was also a Member of the US Navy sky diving team with over one thousand jumps. After leaving the Navy he embarked on a Yachting career and has many years on a great variety of boats. He loves the Cuan Law lifestyle because of its informal friendly atmosphere and hands on helpful owners. He is greatly respected by his young crew who absorb everything he has to teach them - something he loves to do. He is friendly, gregarious and with a great sense of humor and is very much liked by all our guests. We rate James as one of our best Captains in the last few years.
Amy Briggs is another of our second generation crew! Her aunt Debora Ashley served as stewardess and then chef and married our Captain of the time!
Amy is a "chip of the old block" - very like her aunt with a huge warm sunny personality and she is a great in the galley and trains her stewardesses well as that is how she started on the Cuan Law. Amy is from England. She is very hard working, well organized and always cheerful. The guest love her as do the rest of the crew.
Jamie Deehan is from South Africa but also carries an Italian passport as his mother is Italian. Jamie worked for over a year with a BVI dive shop and then transferred to the Cuan law as Chief Diving Instructor. Jamie has tremendous energy and is like a sponge in that he wants to learn all he can and is a very fast learner. After several months as a diver he indicated he wanted to move into other aspects of running the Cuan Law. He is, apart from Captain James, the best seaman in the crew and is a "natural". He wanted to get involved in the engineering side so with the help of James who is an excellent engineer, we appointed him as engineer/mate. He is very friendly and popular with the guests and respected by his fellow crew...read more
Ben Vieyra and Florrie Laidler are a couple and run the diving on the Cuan Law. Ben is from England and Florrie was born in Poland but moved to England when she was very young. Both have degrees in Marine Biology and Environmental Sciences and both are excellent Instructors. With their vast knowledge of the underwater they are excellent guides. We find it best to have a woman in our diving team as they tend to be more patient with beginners and timid divers. Ben is the quieter of the two and enjoys in depth conversations with guests where as Florrie is the bubbly one with a huge smile on her face all the time.
Max Hardy is English and is taking a year from his studies to be a doctor. Max is very gregarious and attentive to the guests and his sunny personality helps him with all his relationships both with guests and crew. He has recently joined us but Captain James tells us he is a "keeper" With is intelligence we are sure he will be a very fast learner.
Susanna King is also from England and has been with us since the spring. She is a very particular stewardess and likes to have the cabins and public areas neat and tidy at all times. She loves working with Amy in the galley and is showing promise in food preparation. Each day either the steward or stewardess is the chef's helper on alternate days. So it is an excellent training ground. So many of our chefs have come up by this route including Amy. Susanna is another of our crew with a big smile.
