Meet the Crew

Keith, Ryan & Ellen

Keith has a natural knack for service and people, developed over years of work, travel and adventure. His adventurous spirit comes from an extremely nomadic family, mostly spread between Kenya, the U.K., U.S.A. and of course Australia, where he grew up. Fortunate enough to have been raised as a well travelled youth, Keith grew into someone who can build rapport and friendships with people from many different walks of life and cultures. A trait invaluable when considering the multicultural and close-knit conditions living and working aboard a yacht.

His career has seen him do it all from working on high-profile super yachts that sailed the Eastern Seaboard from Fort Lauderdale to Rhode Island, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard; to inshore racing, boat building and several long, off shore passages. After nearly six years in the industry, Keith has recognized that his heart and true passion is in sailing and the calm two hulls of a catamaran in the Virgin Islands. Having sailed around almost all of the windward and leeward isles, Panama, the Andalusian coast of Spain and Ibiza, Portugal, Morocco, Croatia and the Greek Islands of the Saronic Gulf in the Mediterranean, Keith’s got a few stories to share. Keith's favorite part about skippering on yachts is hunting for unique bays and the little hidden gems of the islands; from the best beach bars to reef full of life that can only be reached by boat and discovered with a mask and snorkel..read more

Keith is a certified divemaster (and, soon to be Instructor for the 23/24 season) and free diver who loves hunting for fresh spiny lobster to serve, butterflied and grilled in his signature style paired with one of his craft cocktails. A passionate waterman, sailor, adventurer and enthusiastic lover of the natural world, Keith’s easy going humor and passion for the ocean will put you at ease. Whether it’s chauffeuring guests to dinner by tender or sailing deep downwind in the Sir Francis Drake channel, you are in safe and capable hands with Keith at the helm.

Ryan was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He started working in hospitality at the age of 14. At 16 he picked up his first knife and transitioned into the kitchen. Ryan worked as a chef while trainig to be a paramedic, upon qualification, was an on duty paramedic for 2 weeks, before he realized he missed working with food. Ryan entered and won a worldwide cooking competition called Super Yacht scholarship which sent him to the top maritime academy in the world, and then to France for further culinary training. When not cooking Ryan is a ping pong champion and always travels with his paddles.

Ellen was born in England but grew up in the beautiful coastal town of Knynsa, South Africa. As a young child Ellen and her family often went on week-long camping adventures around South Africa and the neighboring countries. This thrill for adventure gave her a deep interest in traveling the world and all these fond memories of adventure have steered her towards entering the yachting industry. With a BA in Visual Communications, majoring in Graphic Desgin , Ellen loves to show her creative side with flower arrangements, table decorations, themed dinners and much more. Ellen also completed a RYA Yachtmaster Coastal under sail and is very excited to be joining a sailing catamaran. Having previously taken on roles of a deck/stew, she enjoys spending time outdoors, getting involved with waterspouts and exploring the Caribbean. She also enjoys the finer things in life such as creating a memorable experience through good service, food, and wine. Ellen is looking forward to creating an unforgettable experience for guests in the Virgin Islands.

Reviews for Seahome with previous crew:

The crew were fantastic. Highest possible rating in all respects. Seahome was very good. Favorite aspect of the yacht was the crew! Julianna is a fantastic chef. She customized whenever we asked. Tasted great and the presentation was excellent.

We worked with the crew to come up with the itinerary. They were very accommodating and knowledgeable. We were very happy.

John H, aboard Catamaran Seahome December 2019  sailing the Virgin Islands

Crew: The crew consisting of Brand, Jayde and Degorey were unbelievable. they were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, accommodating and more. They worked so hard to take care of all 10 of us and never once made us feel like it was a chore. Such an amazing group of young, smart, kind and adventurous people. We all really connected with them and it was very hard to say good bye.

Yacht: Seahome was so comfortable. We were at maximum capacity but it never felt crowded. We had a couple of ventilation issues but that was actually our fault and Brand took care of it easily. We had no idea our beds were going to be made for us and our bathrooms cleaned daily! What a pleasant surprise! I would say that our favorite aspect of the yacht was that there was a spot for everyone. It is funny how we all sort of gravitated to the space we needed. I loved the cushioned sunny area up top the best. The perfect spot to catch some rays during the day and to stargaze at night. The guys in our group love to play cards so the large table in the back of the boat was perfect for that. Two of our guys hung out frequently on the small seats on either side of the boat way up front.

Food: AMAZING! My only complaint is that Jayde makes me look sooooo bad! What she comes up with out of that tiny kitchen is nothing short of magic. We took pictures of every meal. The presentation and better yet, the taste was so awesome. We told Jayde she should write a cookbook. Jayde effortlessly accommodated our one group member that does not like seafood.

Itinerary: We elected to have captain Brand choose our itinerary based on our preference sheet and the weather. It was perfect!

Sailing Directions: You have been really great to work with. I think the number one thing is communication and you were always so willing to answer all questions and within hours, not days! I hope that we have the opportunity to sail the BVI's again soon. I've decided I would like this to be my happy 60th trip in 2022 so we will be in touch for that, if not sooner. I would do this trip every year!

A friend asked, "how would you rate your trip on a scale of 1-10?" My answer was "20!" It truly did exceed all of our expectations. Thanks Sailing Directions!!!

Tammie K, aboard Catamaran Seahome February 2019  sailing the Virgin Islands

You ALL went out of your way to make our trip an experience of a lifetime. Catering not only to each person’s culinary desires but giving us the FULL experience. Everyone had every idiosyncratic whim fulfilled. How you made 10 very different people ALL feel like they were super special and gave each one a VIP experience was the best I’ve seen of the crews we’ve sailed with.

Eric L, aboard Catamaran Seahome December 2018  sailing the Virgin Islands

The whole experience was fabulous! The crew could not have been better - period! Seahome has a wonderful layout and everything was a favored aspect. The food was fabulous and customized for each person. The itinerary was great and the dives fantastic!

Nick B, aboard Catamaran Seahome June 2018  sailing the Virgin Islands

Brand, Jayde and Louise were truly the perfect crew for our group. Their level of professional hospitality they provided was unbelievable. This trip exceeded our expectations.

Brand was able to navigate the USVI and BVI taking us to amazing areas based on the weather ( changing winds), our needs and activity desires. He quickly bonded with our 5 boys and was a constant source of entertainment: Scuba, wakeboard, subwing, tubing, fishing, and just doing flips off the boat with the kids. He makes some great drinks as well. Also full of worldly lnowl;edge and always a pleasure to talk with

Jayde- what an amazing chef! how she makes beyond restaurant quality meals in a 6 x 10 kitchen is unbelievable. She adapted to our groups needs and requests. She always had a smile on her face and was simply a pleasure to be around. She is the Seahome "glue" for sure

Louise- she took care of so many things behind the scenes they cant be counted. From keeping our rooms comfortable, to filling in gaps with the kids playing games, snorkeling, and packing snacks for a beach trip, etc AND we cant forget those unbelievable desserts and making sure drinks were always filled.

The crew worked so well together in perfect harmony. Our request list was 100% met, food was amazing, and we had fun from the moment we woke up to the moment we went to bed. Seahome was in immaculate condition and easily accommodated our group of 9. We never felt crowded.

John at Sailing Directions was always available to answer our questions and guided us through the charter process since this was our first time. Great customer service

Brian J, aboard Catamaran Seahome March 2018  sailing the Virgin Islands

The trip was wonderful! Captain Brand, Jayde and Weezie were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and accommodating. Especially to our granddaughters. The crew made it a very memorable trip for the girls. Just what I had hoped for.

The Seahome was clean and very comfortable. The upstairs deck was a great place to read or sun or visit. We all gained weight because Jayde and Weezie did such a great job planning, preparing and serving the food. They catered to the girls wishes.

We saw all the islands and places we had planned on and even got to swim with the nurse sharks on Anegada. We could not have asked for anything more. I cannot say enough nice things about the crew and the boat.

Thanks for all your help. Sailing Directions was a great help in keeping us informed.
