 Tachyon Yacht Overview:

Tachyon (also a subatomic particle faster than the speed of light) is fun to sail and Eric & Jacque know how to get her moving! Tachyon has been re-fitted in 2006 with fine bedding and tableware and is in overall exellent condition.

Tachyon is a 47-foot Robertson & Caine luxury blue-water sailing catamaran designed especially for luxury charter catamaran vacations. Built in 2001, the yacht accommodates up to six guests and two crew in comfort. She has 3 spacious guest staterooms, each with a queen size bed, private bathroom with shower, and both a hanging closet and enclosed shelves.

The salon area features comfortable seating for eight with either a coffee table or full size dinner table insert, and is perfect for sitting back and watching a DVD on the 24 inch flat-screen TV, playing one of many board games, a game of cards and more.

The large, U-shaped galley offers all the amenities needed to prepare gourmet cuisine, including an oven and 4-burner stove, large freezer, 2 refrigerators, Cuisinart, blender, coffee maker, and a microwave.

Air conditioning is available in every part of the boat. A generator powers the air conditioner, and there are three different units, one for the salon and galley, one for the forward staterooms and one for the aft staterooms. They can be run individually or all together. There are 26 hatches, custom window shades, and large double doors opening to the cockpit that all keep the boat cool and ventilated when the air conditioning is not in use.

The aft cockpit can be described as a huge back porch that can comfortably accommodate 10 or more people, and features a large, 8-person dining table, a propane grill and a 24-foot swim platform. The cockpit is an open design, which flows directly to the swim platform (no need to climb up and over seating or around lines and equipment) and allows for easy movement between both areas. A fully waterproof bimini top with removable side sunscreens and waterproof side panel's shelters the cockpit.

The bimini provides a shady, breezy environment that keeps the cockpit comfortable in the warm Caribbean sun, and dry in the event of rain. The cockpit also provides ample storage space for a host of fishing equipment and dive/snorkel gear, keeping it readily available but out of the way.

It's an easy walk on the wide, non-skid deck up to the bow of the boat where there are two large trampolines on which to sunbathe, take a nap, or just hang out and feel the trade wind breeze. In the evenings, pull out the deck chairs and watch the sunset on the bow while sipping a freshly made cocktail and enjoying the refreshing evening air.

About the crew aboard Yacht Tachyon
Your Crew:   Eric & Jacque
Description:

Eric Stahl hails from Boulder Colorado, where he learned to sail on racing scows and J-boats in the high altitude lakes of Colorado and has won numerous regattas driving a variety of different designs, from the West coast to the East coast. He moved to San Diego CA and taught sailing at America's top-rated sailing school, J-World.

After excelling in Southern California, he moved to Annapolis MD and continued coaching at the local J-World franchise, where he received honors as the highest rated sailing instructor, based on customer evaluations. Eric has taught and coached hundreds of students of various abilities, ranging from learn to sail students, to highly competitive racing teams.

His résumé speaks for itself, and you can rest assured that you'll be onboard a yacht with a true sailor and an excellent instructor who will be happy to sail you around the Sir Frances Drake Channel, or teach you a few tricks and let you do the sailing yourself - he'd love that too.

Eric is also an experienced and creative bartender. Your glass will be continually full of very tasty cocktails from Bombay sapphire martinis to fresh pineapple daiquiris with Cruzan rum.

Jacque is an accomplished chef, and has trained at the famed L'Academie De Cuisine in Washington DC, where she placed special emphasis on preparing fish and shellfish. Like Eric, she loves to fish, and it makes her day to be able to fillet a 'catch of the day' off the back of the boat and prepare a sushi appetizer, and a dinner of grilled fish and fresh vegetables for her guests.

Her real specialty is baking and she has a great time making succulent cakes, tartlets, custards and pies for everyone to enjoy. She also uses the baking talent to make fresh bread from scratch for French toast, sandwich bread, fociacca, and breakfast breads.

Jacque is a certified Rescue Diver and Dive Master and loves to show off the underwater wonders of the Virgin Islands to her guests.

Jacque and Eric have truly become locals here in the Virgin Islands and were married on Virgin Gorda with all their friends and family present in May 2005.

Join Eric and Jacque for an active yet relaxing week sailing the Virgin Islands aboard Tachyon.

Guest Comments:
We had a terrific time aboard Tachyon with Eric and Jacque. Most of us agreed it was the best vacation of our lives.

Eric and Jacque were charming and accommodating. They were easy to get along with and not intrusive, but participated to ensure we had a good time.

Eric was amazing and definitely did a great job as a captain of the ship in terms of getting us to our destinations by plotting and planning. Jacque was a wonderful chef and the food was delicious.

Eric and Jacque were wonderful, they made the whole experience better than I even imagined. The trip was great, we all had a ball and much enjoyed getting to know Eric and Jacque - great captain and cook / guide / crew / Jacque of all trades! Everything about the trip was exceptional. Eric is a perfect skipper, my son Erik had a blast helping to sail the boat and he learned so much about sailing from our captain, I can hardly put into words what an extraordinary vacation we all enjoyed.

Beyond a doubt the best vacation experience any of us has ever had, one that we will talk and dream about for years to come. Thank you for all your help - this was truly a dream vacation, one I want to repeat.
