Hailing from Virginia Beach, Tom studied Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech, where he was Commodore of the sailing club and raced competitively. Afterwards, he moved to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands where he was able to follow his passion and begin sailing professionally. Starting in the day sail industry, Tom gained an extensive knowledge of snorkeling and marine life. It was there that he met Becca.
Becca was raised in Texas and went to college at the University of Mississippi where she studied her love of service and cooking with a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree.
Feeling the need to explore farther, they each joined up 72' sailboats that did crewed term charters in the British Virgin Islands and the Leeward Islands.
An Atlantic crossing later, Tom found himself racing again, this time aboard Farr 40 racing yachts. He and Becca were then lucky enough to get a job together aboard a 96' power yacht. However sailing is a love that cannot be ignored and Becca and Tom returned to the sailing charter world aboard Hypnautic.
When off charter, Tom and Becca can be found diving, snorkeling, spear fishing, reading, and playing beach volleyball.

Captain Tom and Chef/Admiral Becca were a fabulous contribution and integral to our $trip of a lifetime$. We were greeted upon our arrival with smiling faces and a friendly welcome. After the grand tour of our sailing yacht, we had drinks in hand and munchies - a sign of the generous attentiveness and delectable food to come throughout the week.
We are so pleased we chose Hypnautic. First, the Hypnautic has a beautiful decor scheme that presents an air of spaciousness that we did not expect. We were
enchanted with the idea of the Hypnautic's king suite when we were researching our choices, and it definitely lived up to our expectations. The floor plan of Hynautic allowed each couple in our party complete privacy (or quiet time for a quick nap). Each of us woke up in the morning refreshed and commenting how comfortable the mattresses and the 100% cotton bedding was for a restful nights sleep.
To put it plain and simple, Chef Becca has a delightful repertoire of recipes and we can't wait to get back and have some of our favorites again and more! Overall, we were so spoiled on our trip - coffee ready in the morning, breakfast on the table when we were ready for it, lunch at just the right time in between stops, and dinner at our leisure and never wanting for a refill of a drink in your hand (sodas, beers, mixed drinks) - those were asked to be replaced before you even knew you were almost empty.
The trip exceeded our expectations at every turn. We will continue to tell friends, family, neighbors, and strangers, about our BVI experience and look forward to seeing the BVI again soon with the help of Sailing Directions, Captain Tom, Chef Becca and Hypnautic.
