Over the last five years Brett has been on the fast track, gaining experience and qualifications as a charter yacht skipper. He may be the only charter captain who is a professional baker / pastry chef.
Brett's hands-on experience covers yacht maintenance, charter preparation and yacht engineering. With his wife, Andrea, he has traveled extensively as delivery crew on modern and classic yachts around the UK, Ireland, Mallorca, Scandinavia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean.
He has more than three years experience as First Mate / Engineer on sailing yachts up to 90 feet and aboard the 86 foot motor yacht Bel Mare. Between deliveries, Brett was based in the UK working for a marine engineering company operating in Southampton and Mallorca.
Brett's charter experience includes the role of captain aboard the catamaran True North. He is STCW95 certified and holds an International Yachtmaster Offshore License.
Andrea grew up on and around her parents' boats in Australia's beautiful Whitsunday Islands. She worked in the hospitality industry for many years - good training for chartering - and takes pride in giving guests the very highest level of service at all times.
Andrea has always had a fine appreciation of cuisine based on fresh regional foods and unique flavors. Working side by side with top caliber professional chefs, notably Brooke Phelps on the 86 foot motor yacht Bel Mare in New Zealand and Chris Millburg on the 90' motor sailer ARIA, she has raised her cooking and presentation skills to an exellent level.
Andrea is ready to serve her guests the finest and freshest ingredients prepared with her own creative flair. She is happy to fulfill individual requests and cater for special dietary requirements.
The team on Matau is rounded out with two other crew members, a mate and a hostess.
