Meet the Crew

Douglas & Carolyn

Doug has always had a profound love of the ocean. Pursuing this passion from a very early age, Doug purchased his first boat years before he received his driver's license and obtained his captains license at the age of 19.

Doug's first experience navigating the Caribbean began in his early twenties on race boats. After several seasons of racing its pristine waters he came to the conclusion that he desired a more permanent (and serene) existence in the Virgin Islands. These decisions lead him to retire from the racing circuit and pursue captaining term charters.

Doug's friendly nature and vibrant sense of humor are trumped only by his wealth of knowledge pertaining to all things Caribbean. He loves sharing all the popular and exciting hot stops that the VI has to offer almost as much as he loves to whisk his guests away to the more secluded anchorages that showcase the untouched exotic beauty of the islands.

Other than his great passion, sailing, Doug also enjoys cooking, surfing, snowboarding and boat restoration. He is exceptionally energetic and generally loves any out door activity.

Doug looks forward to showing his guests all the adventure and excitement the Caribbean has to offer. You will find him to be an excellent captain who offers a very unique experience not soon to be forgotten!

Reviews for Alternate Latitude with Douglas & Carolyn:

We found Doug and Carolyn to be VERY knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and accommodating. They were very flexible with our day to day plan and route. Our request to surf when the swell was appropriate was fulfilled with a flexible schedule. They made sure we saw the sights that they thought would interest us and they were spot on!

Alternate Latitude was comfortable, clean and well ventilated. We enjoyed the “trampoline” area at the bow and the addition of the bean bag chairs was a nice touch. We spent a lot of time at the outdoor table towards the stern which was nice.

The food was amazing! We kept asking Carolyn how she made this and that! She took pride in her work and you could tell. It was perfect and flexible, as well, as the week went on.

The early assistance with trying to find a boat was very helpful and all communication was clear.

We would definitely recommend Alternate Latitude with Doug and Carolyn. They make a great team! Doug was a very competent captain and we always felt that our family was safe while he was at the helm. Carolyn, amazing chef, scheduler and go to! They do make a great team! They were indeed interested in making sure that we were looked after and provided as many choices as possible to explore.

 Rock stars!

Jennifer and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and Doug. You two will be 'rock stars' in the charter community if you keep it going. I know you have options to do other things but you both will bring a lot of joy to the lives of the people who are fortunate enough to sail with you. Jennifer and I want to do it again soon.

Steve and Janet went above and beyond
Steve and Janet went above and beyond to make our sailing adventure so wonderful. We had the best time surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving and, of course, sailing! It was the perfect combination of excitement and relaxation. Steve and Janet know just where to go and all the sweetest spots. The food was amazing! It is actually hard to eat well in the BVIs, and Steve really heard my request for lots of veggies and other special requests, and came up with excellent food from scratch every meal. We felt so taken care of, so comfortable and at ease, and enjoyed the company of this awesome couple so much. These two really love what they do, and it makes for a unique and unforgettable adventure on many levels. Highly recommended ! :)

Steve and Deb Run a GREAT operation
We were a party of four; two couples celebrating an anniversary, and it was all of our first experience on a live-aboard. We could not have been more pleased with the decision to hire the Alternate Latitude! Steve and Deb run a GREAT operation! Lest anyone question the value of a captained charter, let me put your mind at rest. You cannot understate the value of Steve's local knowledge of strategizing the itinerary, picking the perfect snorkeling holes, knowing what time to arrive at any particular mooring, knowing which mooring ball to use given the wind patterns and doing all of that with a friendly and accommodating disposition. We are so thrilled with the Alternate Latitude and would do the trip again in a heartbeat! ~Tampa Bolt

 35th Anniversary Trip
We were so pleased we selected Alternate Latitude for our 35th wedding anniversary trip. Captain Steve and Deb warmly welcomed us into their 'home' and we had a wonderful time. They took extra care to make sure we had the best experience we could, from out-waiting the crowds at popular snorkeling spots, to providing excellent, fresh food of the best quality. The night time turtle viewing excursion with Gumption was superb, and it was really fun to paddle board, swim and snorkel right from the boat. We felt pampered and extremely safe under their care. We have already recommended them to friends and would certainly consider sailing with them again.~Team 4 Bucks

 Unforgettable Memories for our Family
My husband and I craved a family vacation with our two teenage daughters and nine year old son that would expose them to a beautiful part of the world, give us much needed unplugged family time, offer active adventures we could not get at home and create unforgettable memories of our family.

We got all that and more with our spring break trip on Alternate Latitude. Captain Steve sailed us to magical coves seeing sights that were breath taking. We snorkeled everyday and felt as though we were dipped into an aquarium seeing octopus, sting rays, turtles, starfish and of course hundreds of colorful fish.

Deb prepared the most amazing dishes three times a day that gave our family that much needed relaxed time together. Steve and Deb offered amazing experiences from Hiking little known trails, swimming to the baths and exploring tidal pools. Our options were endless and Steve and Deb were not only very knowledgable about the islands, but were able to offer our three kids 9, 13, and 16 experiences they loved and will never forget. From perfect family time, magical sunsets, to amazing dinners, fabulous accommodations and never ending hospitality we feeling so lucky to have experiences the trip of a lifetime on Alternate Latitude.

 An Amazing Experience
Seeing the British Virgin Islands and US Virgin Islands aboard a catamaran is an amazing experience. Traveling with Deb and Steve on the Alternate Latitude through these islands made for a unforgettable trip. The food Deb served was not only delicious it was healthy and she literally made everything from scratch. If we had tacos she would hand roll the tortillas. Everything Deb served was fantastic and the rum cake Steve makes is out of this world. If anyone is able to get that recipe please send it to me.

Steve is a great captain and could not have been more accommodating to our needs and knows literally everything about every island. We had a memorable time exploring new snorkel sites, beach bars, restaurants, and relaxing on the boat. If you have a request the answer was always yes and both Deb and Steve went out of there way to please their guests. I will cherish every minute of the trip that I was able to spend with my parents, husband and good friends. If you are thinking about booking this trip, treat yourself and do so immediately. You will not be disappointed.~Lacey

 Treated Like Rock Stars
We are 3 professional couples from IN, MO and AR having just finished the trip of a lifetime on the Alternate Latitude being treated like royalty or like some of us put it, "like Rock Stars" by Capt Steve and First Mate Deb.

Steve and Deb are professional and fun, taking care of us and all details with excellent customer service. They customize each chartered trip, keeping their guests interests at the forefront. All meals prepared by Deb were excellent; presentation, quality, amount and taste (fresh, mostly organic ingredients and homemade bread daily, for example). Yummy rum cake too! Our primary objectives were sailing, relaxing and snorkeling. Steve put us on great snorkeling spots where we saw rays, turtles, Nurse shark, various fish, fans and coral. While sailing we were blessed to see a baby humpback whale and several dolphin actually began swimming along side the boat. At one hot spot Steve and Deb made sure we arrived before other vacationers. We came away with pristine photos of our group just as throngs of others came with no hope of a clear shot. Their catamaran is extremely clean and tastefully decorated. All 6 of us cannot think of anything they could have done better. Thanks Steve and Deb! We came away with all objectives met, pampered and spoiled, suntanned and relaxed. We loved our vacation and want to do it again.~Team Tyson

 A Superb and Creative Chef
This is the second year we have sailed on Alternate Latitude. We will never go back to bareboating again. Not only are Deb and Steve extremely personable and ready to cater to your every need, but they are extremely professional, immensely talented, tons of fun, highly skilled, and extremely experienced.

Alternate Latitude is a very comfortable, spotless, well appointed boat. Capt Steve and Deb go out of their way to make you feel that "their home is your home" during your stay. Deb, a superb and creative chef, spoiled us on every possible occasion. Her creative recipes, made from scratch and fresh ingredients, and eagerness to please made every meal a wonderful delight. The boat is well stocked with paddle boards, snorkeling equipment, noodles, etc. Their intense knowledge of the islands allowed us to visit many secluded places we would not have found on our own. Coming to the Virgin Islands/BVIs is our favorite vacation and sailing with Deb and Capt Steve make it absolutely perfect. ~Crusty Crew \

Best way to celebrate wedding anniversary and 40th birthday!!!
I'll be honest and say that we were a little nervous before we got there as we have never chartered a boat before. My husband was worried about privacy and that he would get bored. I was nervous that I would get seasick and that I would miss being on land. However, after 10 minutes on board, we knew it was a great decision for us. We were never bored, and there was ALWAYS something to do! Privacy is not an issue and we never once felt confined! I did not plan the trip beforehand, rather trusted them to show us what the BVI's had to offer- and they did not disappoint. Everyday was an unbelievable adventure including amazing snorkeling, a spa day at St. Peter's, bar hopping and lobsters on the beach in Anegada, hiking on Virgin Gorda, and docking in completely secluded spots. Steve and Deb intuitively knew our needs as their guests and were extremely accommodating and gracious.
Steve is a great Captain and knows the waters like the back of his hand. His sailing abilities are second to none. Deb is not only an amazing chef and bartender, but her passion for cooking and for life are contagious. Above all, they both love what they do...and it is evident! We enjoyed every moment and are already planning our next visit with Deb and Steve on Alternate Latitude! ~The Larsons

We Were All So Well Taken Care Of
The 6 of us chartered the Alternate Latitude for a week cruising the BVI's. The boat is owned by the Captain and his wife who was also the chef on board. All of Deb's meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) were delicious and Captain Steve's rum cake was out of this world. Cocktails were available whenever we desired as well as wine and other beverages. We all were so well taken care of by both Deb and Steve. The Catamaran was well appointed and we all enjoyed being on board. We all felt so welcome in their nautical home and would highly recommend this boat to anyone who is interested in a similar experience.~Team Bogwhan

 We Will Book Again!
I do not know where to begin. Steve and Deb are the most honest and hard working people you will find. Down to earth and fun to spend time with. They will not disappoint. They cover every last detail. I would highly recommend the all inclusive package. Deb is an amazing chef. The boat is very clean and has everything you will need for your vacation. They know the area very well. We will book again with Steve and Deb aboard Alternate Latitude and recommend to our friends. Thank You! ~Jim & Meggan
 Everything We Hoped For!
Alternate Latitude was everything we hoped for and more! The accommodations were excellent. The hosts were fun, friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Our young girls were welcomed and very well-cared for. The trip planning and suggestions were perfect! We specifically requested healthy meals and were amazed by the fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The captain was capable, confident and clearly enjoys the sailing. Communication was excellent. Overall, we would travel with Deb and Steve again anytime.

 Amazing Anniversary!
From our first step onto the boat, we knew we had made the right decision for our anniversary celebration. The Captain listened to our ideas about what we wanted to do and customized our trip to our personal desires. Every day our expectations were exceeded as far as the delicious, healthy meals, the wonderful sites and less traveled locations, even sailing 101 lessons for those of us who wished to learn. It was, without a doubt, the best vacation we have ever had. Our rooms were comfortable and private. The beds are surprisingly comfortable and roomy. The meals were amazing. We did some hard sailing (our wish) and never felt any seasickness or doubt in the capable hands of our Captain. We even decided to renew our vows on the boat and they kindly accommodated that. It was an unforgettable experience. We can't recommend it highly enough!

 Most Wonderful Vacation Ever
We were warmly greeted at the dock by Captain Steve and he escorted us to his catamaran. He even helped to carry our bags. Upon stepping onboard we found some cool drinks waiting for us along with his first mate, Deb. She made us feel very at ease and at home immediately. There were four of us and we chose the all inclusive. We simply could not have been more pleased with everything from the exceptional food that Deb prepared to the master sailing skills of Captain Steve. They are very attentive to their guests' needs without being intrusive in anyway. Captain Steve and Deb each possess sincere and well intentioned personalities that are compatible with life in a shared living space. The most fabulous part of what they offer is the ability and willingness to customize your experience. It was very clear that they were eager to provide us with whatever type of experience we were looking for. We opted for some sailing opportunities for my husband along with some peaceful beachcombing for others. Captain Steve's knowledge of the islands and when to arrive at each point allowed us to discover the most beautiful sandy coves, that we sometimes had all to ourselves. Snorkeling with the most brilliantly colored fish/ as well as swimming with the turtles was enjoyed. We took a hike up a mountain path with stunning panoramic views of the beautiful azure sea. If you are looking for more excitement such as some nightlife at the local clubs/shopping then they will make sure that happens too. The Catamaran itself was spotless and perfectly maintained. As a double hull vessel, we felt that we were more stable and comfortable than we would have on a mono-hull. We all slept peacefully each night in our comfortable bunks with hot coffee waiting to greet us each morning. This was our most wonderful vacation ever. Captain Steve and Deb's efforts were perfectly orchestrated and everything flowed seamlessly. Their professionalism combined with their warm and lovely personalities are sure to provide you with the getaway that you have always dreamed of.

 Fun Meter Set High!
Jennifer and I have enjoyed going to the BVI several times over the last ten years. This particular charter hosted by Captain Steve and his wife Deb ranks at the very top. We felt 'welcomed' to their home as soon as we arrived. I can't describe it better than to say we all connected immediately. The 'fun meter' was set high from the first day on. Alternate Latitude, the vessel, was first class all the way. We felt like we WERE on a floating 'bed and breakfast'! The good vibe sustained itself throughout the entire 9 days, which I know to be rare. As Korrel said, we felt like we were sailing with our friends Steve and Deb. I cannot speak for Steve and Deb, but I came away believing that It was truly an exceptional experience for everyone on the vessel. Sailing on Alternate Latitude will improve anyone's attitude! If you want to have the BVI experience laid at your feet, you couldn't do any better than having Captain Steve and Deb show you their world.

 Perfect Christmas Vacation!
What a spectacular week! We were a little concerned about spending a week on a boat with two strangers, but Captain Steve & First mate Deb seemed like family half way through the week! They are two of the most thoughtful, interesting, & gracious people I've ever met. The boat was comfortable, the locations we visited were beautiful, & the food (aaah, the food!) was amazing and healthy! It is rare to encounter people so focused on making sure other people are happy. Steve & Deb know the islands well & did a great job creating an interesting itinerary for us that kept the entire family happy, which was great, because we arrived stressed from the holidays & without a lot of "must sees". We saw tons of spectacular places; many times with few other people around, so we felt like we had paradise to ourselves. Our teenage kids LOVED it so much & were sad to leave! We all learned a little about sailing--Steve was great at explaining what was going on with the boat. Both he & Deb endured our endless questions with grace & answered thoughtfully. We spent Christmas on the boat, and again, Deb & Steve went out of their way to make sure it was a special time for our family. I truly cannot do justice to the excellence of our week aboard the Alternate Latitude--just BOOK IT!!! You will not be disappointed!

 Best Trip Ever!
We stayed on Alternate Latitude with a couple of our best friends and had a blast! Steve is a great captain, he kept our days filled with snorkeling, sight seeing, island hopping, and pretty much anything and everything we wanted to do he made it happen. Deb is such a wonderful chef and host. We had great drinks and food the entire trip, even down to the midnight snacks :) I recommend this boat to anyone that wants to have an amazing vacation. Best trip we have ever taken- hands down!

 Incredible Vacation and Wonderful Captain!
Captain Steve was excellent in catering to creating 'our trip', we were not rushed, we were offered many, many options for what we would like to experience and allowed the freedom to change our minds as we got more on 'island time.' Swimming with sea turtles, fine dining in remote spots, grilling lobster on the boat. We just left and are figuring out when we are going back. Excellent stress relief for my over worked husband ( plus wifi so he could still be in contact when he needed) I was surprised by how well we slept in our cabin. (We were concerned, used to a king size bed and temp set on 72 at home. ) We were not hot nor cramped. All in All -INCREDIBLE vacation And WONDERFUL CAPTAIN!

Captain Steve Really Took Care of Us

Great charter! Captain Steve really took care of us. Boat is in excellent shape and well suited for adventure. Setup is perfect for 3 couples, each stateroom has its own (head/toilet/watercloset), so plenty of privacy. Forget the cruise ships, this is the way to see the BVIs!

This was the best vacation we\'ve ever had!
I dont usually do reviews, but have to make an exception for this. This was the best vacation we ever had! Weve done bareboating in the BVI numerous times. This was our first time with a captain. Steve was a very gracious host and an extremely knowledgeable captain. Our group consisted of four very experienced sailors and two who had never sailed before. All of us had a GREAT time! From the moment we were picked up in St. Thomas, to spending a day in St. John, thru checking in at Jost Van Dyke, and cruising thru the BVI-including Anegada, everything was stress and worry free. Steve arranged everything according to our schedule and wants. He showed us some anchorages and snorkeling spots wed never have known about on a bareboat charter. We preferred to eat ashore most evenings, and Steve introduced us to some fantastic little out of the way eateries that we hadnt been to before. I would highly recommend an Alternate Latitude charter for both first-time and experienced sailors. We had both and would all do it again.

A terrific charter for either a novice or seasoned cruiser!
Steve, Thanks so much for the Great trip. We all enjoyed it but James had a blast getting to sail with you. I can't think of anything I can recommend to make what you do any better. Having chartered with 4 other Cats in the past, I really think your talents as a sailor and Captain combined with the fact that Alternate Latitude is certainly a beautiful, comfortable and capable cruiser with a wonderful back story, will make a terrific charter for anyone either a novice or seasoned cruiser.

The destinations and routes were well thought out to accommodate my wife's desire for smooth sailing and anchorages and my Sons desire to sail. When Deb comes in to round our your crew, I'm sure things will get even better!

Thanks again for the fun and memorable vacation. We look forward to sailing with you again next Spring, as we discussed.

Regards, J. G.

 What a Beautiful Place!
Wow - what a beautiful place to spend the holiday - or anytime for that matter. We sailed around St Thomas and St John. We did some snorkeling, swimming and (for the coordinated) stand up paddle-boarding. We spent Christmas in a tranquil bay on St John sipping mimosas and enjoying life. Skinny Legs is a fun bar for drinking a few hurricanes. Steve (the captain) was a very capable sailor and willing to teach if you are interested. He had good tips for places to visit and things to do The boat was clean and well-maintained. There was plenty of room in the cabin.
Highly Recommend Steve and Alternate Latitude!!
Steve is a very knowledgeable and experienced Captain, as well as a great host. The boat is a very nice and capable cruiser, very stable, and fast!, plus you can go places that bare boat charters cannot! Highly recommend both Steve and S/V Alternate Latitude.
Forget the cruise ships, this is the way to see the islands!
Great charter! Captain Steve really took care of us. Boat is in excellent shape and well suited for adventure. Setup is perfect for 3 couples, each stateroom has its own (head/toilet/watercloset), so plenty of privacy. We got to see all the usual BVI stops but also a few others off the main radar (for example, snorkeling in the Dog Islands) If you can afford it, fly in to Beef Island and you'll be picked up at the beach. We flew into St Thomas (typically cheaper) and it was a short taxi ride to the dock. Bring softsided luggage for ease of stowage onboard. Follow the adventures on Facebook search "Alternate Latitude" Forget the cruise ships, this is the way to see the BVIs!

A few highlights: Tarpon under the Alternate Latitude fish lights Swimming to Soggy Dollar bar for pain killers (hint: take shoes if you plan to walk over the hill to Ivans!) Roti at Trellis Bay Rubbing elbows with the super-yachts Alone at the bubbly pool Alone at Buck Island Pizza delivery from Foxys Taboo Conch fritters and bushwhackers at Cow Wreck Face-to-face with tarpon at Monkey Point Sailing Lasers at Bitter End Spinnaker run from Anegada Ribs, pirates, and blues at Pirates Bight Closing down the Willy T One of the many highlights was snorkeling with the turtles at Buck Island. We arrived in the morning and were the only people there. After a couple of hours wed had our fill of turtles, rays, barracuda, puffer fish, etc. and were on the boat drying off enjoying a cool beverage. Real paradise. Then excursion boats from the cruise ships in St. Thomas started arriving, and within minutes the anchorage was filled with about 200 (well at least 100+) snorkeling tourists with their noodles. They were everywhere. As Steve expertly piloted us away from the onslaught, we were grateful we had the one-on-one time with the turtles. Another highlight for us experienced sailors (although Steve probably wouldnt want me to mention this sorry Steve) was flying the spinnaker from Anegada all the way to Norman Island. Thats something you would never get to do on a bareboat. I would highly recommend an Alternate Latitude charter for both first-time and experienced sailors. We had both and would all do it again.

 The trip was absolutely wonderful!
The trip was absolutely wonderful. Steve and Deb are the best. The food was awesome plus we chose what we wanted to eat in advance. Everything was ready for us when we got to the boat - drinks, food... The beds were comfortable and designed to get the most out of a small space. Lots of storage plus each room has it's own bathroom/shower. We stopped at some of the best snorkeling and dive spots. There were a couple really good popular bars we visited - great music and dancing. The people were all very nice and friendly.

Each day was a new adventure!
Hubby & I went with 2 other couples. It was hubby's 50th bday. Steve & Deb made sure we were very well taken care of. From taking us to the best places to finding lobster for the bday boy's dinner (which Deb cooked superbly). Steve & Deb both know these islands very well. They know the out of the way places to find local artists along with knowing the colorful locals with great stories! The trip truly was amazing. The scenery was fantastic, food was superb, company was delightful. Each day was a new adventure. We got the well known places along with the lesser known gems. (harvesting our own salt on SALT ISLAND (with owners permission of course!) They really took care with the provisioning of the boat, making sure we had exactly what we asked for - at the best prices available for each item, even if it took numerous trips. We ended up using exactly all of our items. That takes talent to provision 8 ppl for 8 days to the tee!

Overall this was one of my best vacations!
Steve did an amazing job of captaining our group around the BVI. We were a bit difficult only due to the fact that we had zero agenda, other than to just relax, swim, snorkel, sleep, and play. The ship is a great space for small groups and has a really cozy feel to it that is welcoming as you spend the week in your new water "home". Steve was wonderful at showing us the out of the way, non-touristy places as well as helping us to hit up THE hot spots every traveler to the BVI should experience. Overall this was one of my best vacations and certainly in my top 5 list of all time greats. I would recommend Alternate Latitude to anyone who wants to "tool around" the BVI and just have a great cruise, atypical of the HUGE ships. It's sort of living like a local and Steve was a great guide!

 Five Star!
My family had a wonderful time. We did the half board option and it was perfect. Deb was an exceptional cook and hostess. Food was great and always hit the spot. [Even the kids were happy!] Cold beer aplenty and a cocktail when needed. Steve the captain will meet you at the taxi stand when you get dropped off and will take care of you throughout the whole trip. We went to all the usual places, and some off the beaten track, which was especially fun when snorkeling. Sharks, turtles, stingrays, barracudas saw them all! Especially recommend the 5pm Tarpon feeding at Sabor Rock. It was my first time on a Catamaran. I was not sure what to expect when under sail, but the boat was awesome. You can do as much or as little as you want, again I went for the half helping option, occasionally helping out and then returning to my cold beer and lunch located exactly where I left it- on the table- not going to happen on a mono-hull! Five Star. Thanks Steve, Deb from "Seal Team Tango"

 Deb is amazing!
This is my second trip on a charter in the BVI. We've had a great experience both times. It's such a relaxing way to vacation. Our first trip, we did a "captain only" charter, so this half-board experience was such a pleasant upgrade. We did have some unpleasant weather several times throughout the trip, but we still managed to have a great time. Captain Steve is such responsible captain and we all felt safe with him the whole time. He enjoys sailing and he gave us lots of sail time - one advantage of the windy weather! But the best part of this boat is Deb. She is an amazing hostess! She's kind and gentle and fun and wants to ensure that her guests are happy always. She spoiled us by waiting on us constantly. She values healthy meals and I was a little skeptical about what she would feed us but she somehow managed to make meals that were both gourmet and healthy and filling! Deb did "allow" the Captain to make us his decidedly unhealthy special rum cake and I'm pretty sure we ate everything including the crumbs! Great experience and if you are looking for a charter, I would highly recommend this boat.
 You guys rock!
Hey Steve and Deb, "Team Malibu" here......we just wanted you to know what a spectacular job you guys did on our charter ( April-May, 2014). I realize we already wrote nice reviews and all that, but having just returned from another charter with a different company...we wanted to let you know, the attention to detail was nothing compared to you ! We had decided to try a different boat to see if we liked the cabin configuration better. Karen and Jim and John and I missed all the little extra touches you provided. Happy New Year!
We had such a great time on Alternate Latitude!
Stacie was amazing in her ability to provide tasty and varying meals.

Ralph was a great navigator & provided us with lots of interesting details of the islands.

Ralph & Stacie worked very well together.

Reviews for Alternate Latitude with previous crew:

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this vacation and this crew! We definitely had a great time, and Steve and Deb were a big reason why. We were a little high maintenance on the food front: one vegetarian, one gluten free, one low carb, and one who won't eat cilantro. Deb took it all in stride and made some AWESOME meals for us. She focuses on organic, local ingredients, and you can taste it! It was so good we begged for recipes and have tried a few at home.

We told Steve that what we really wanted was good snorkeling, and so he took us to some EXCELLENT spots. We snorkeled two or three times a day, and had a great time. He picked routes so we could see a lot of different things, and still get to sites fast and spend most of our time in the water. When it got windy and wavy, he found us coves where it was easier to snorkel. And when we got out of the water, they had drinks waiting for us - girly, beach drinks, just as we requested.

They are great people, and we had a great time. The ship was extremely well maintained, and they take care of it very lovingly. Great crew, great ship, great snorkeling, great friends. What more could you ask for?

Also want to add: you, John, and Sailing Directions, were also AWESOME to work with. I asked for lots of quotes (different dates, different number of people), and asked for an extension (or possibly two) to lock in the reservation, as I tried to get commitments from the group, and you quickly and pleasantly responded to everything. Greatly appreciate the service.
