Matt & Tara
We are an experienced and energetic couple, with a diverse range of skills both above and below the water. We are a highly motivated, self-organised couple with an eye for detail and the desire to ensure our guests have the vacation of a lifetime.
We enjoy ensuring our guests discover the amazing waters of the British Virgin Islands through snorkelling and diving; Tara has been a diving instructor since 2001, she really enthuses about the local fish and their habitats, sharing her knowledge with quests.
Tara: I am a highly qualified chef, having spent two years in one of London's top catering colleges, followed by 10 years working in some of the top restaurants and hotels in London. Wanting to travel I became a diving instructor and started exploring the world. I now have found a way to combine my two passions: cooking and the oceans. As a result of my training, when faced with issues like food intolerances or allergies, I am quickly able to produce suitable alternatives without inconveniencing the customer. I really enjoy creating new menus and experimenting with new dishes, in order to provide our guests with a fantastic culinary experience.
Matt: I am a RYA/MCA Yachtmaster with seven years' experience of sailing the waters of Australia, BVI, Italy and the UK. I enjoy meeting new guests and dealing with any interesting challenges over the years. I love being involved on deck and in the water, as well as exploring new places and cultures.See reviews

The crew were great!! Nana is comfortable and we enjoyed eating at the outside table for meals. Food was amazing! Tara did a wonderful job customized to our preferences.
You were very helpful and made it easier for us to book this trip.
Suzanne S, aboard Catamaran Nana sailing the Virgin Islands
Matt and Tara were exceptional. Friendly, helpful and a pleasure. They knew when to "fade into the background" but also were very engaged with our group. We have been numerous times to the BVI but they brought us to some wonderful snorkeling sites we had not seen before.
The boat was very clean absolutely no complaints there. Very nice boat, good spaces.
The food was AMAZING! If you like good food, go on this charter! Menu was well customized, some of us had food allergies, and Tara made some separate custom meals as good as the rest. Everything from scratch. Only problem is the few pounds we each gained for the week - well worth it. Matt is a terrific drink mixer.
Very good itinerary--and they were willing to go to the places we also wanted to see.
Sailing Directions' service was problem free and appreciated. Would recommend Sailing Directions, The Nana, and Matt and Tara without reservation.
Jeremy D, aboard Catamaran Nana sailing the Virgin Islands
Thank you both so much for making this so memorable.
Love Ros and Mel
PS: Tara it is time for me to go on a diet I will miss your homemade bread.
Thank you for the sailing, the hospitality, the fun time and especially the food. This was a wonderful vacation and break from the real world. The best part was that everything was taken care of and we could just sit back and relax. It was fantastic to not have a care in the world and just take in the beauty of the Virgin Island. Hope to see you again soon
The Dudke Family
It was not the luxurious boat or spectacular scenery that made the trip, but the
Amazing and sincere hospitality and the gourmet food.
Thanks for putting up with the youngest guest!
Babies can be exhausting but you patience was impressive, we can not wait to do
This again with Nana or what ever boat you guys are managing.
This was the spectacular adventure of a lifetime!
Grandma & Grandpa
This was truly a wonderful family vacation, every minute was absolutely perfect,
We can not believe it took 27 years to come back to the BVI.
It is truly such a special place completely unspoiled,
We had so much fun swimming, snorkeling, sailing, eating and even reading.
This past year has been very busy so it was so nice to really relax and almost go off the grid.
Both of you took so much pride in what you do which is such a special thing to observe and we really all appreciate it.
We can not wait to come back to Nana.
Many thanks The O'Brien Family
What an amazing week and an honor to celebrate our folks' 40th wedding anniversary-along with the Queen's 90th birthday. We are leaving with incredible memories of our time together as a family, great pictures of these beautiful islands, and new skills of sailing and singing "God Save the Queen".
PERFECT Captain and Chef couple - from the time we stepped on board until we departed - 5 star all around service. Captain Matt had a story for everything and knew the very best snorkel spots, such a fun dry British humor ready with a witty comments. Tara - inspiring meals that were as beautiful as delicious, the joy for your craft shines through each dish and the fine details you perfect in every presentation.
Truly a magical journey for us all!
The Spruill Family

Tara the meals were excellent your attention to detail did not go unnoticed.
We enjoyed our meals together and so happy you enjoyed playing cards, dice and coloring with our family.
A vacation and 50th celebration we will always remember!
