Pelican, previously named Fantasy Island, raises the bar for affordable luxury charters! This exciting 58ft catamaran's sleek lines, high tech construction and modern interior have earned her the prestigious award of "Best Cruising Catamaran of 2003" from Cruising World Magazine, and she sails just as fast as she looks!
Clever design gives Pelican more usable space than many yachts her size, allowing her to accommodate up to 10 guests in air-conditioned staterooms with four queen-sized beds and one double-sized room all with vacuum-flush bathrooms. The crew has separate accommodation and bathroom.
The salon is open and spacious and includes the galley, with serving counter, a bar and comfortable seating. You can watch a movie on the larger flat-screen TV with Bose sound system, listen to some good music, or just relax in air-conditioned comfort. There's also full-time Internet access and a phone for your convenience. At night, recessed LED lighting provides a dramatic effect.
Just aft of the salon is the cockpit area with dining tables on both sides. The cockpit has a permanent carbon-fiber bimini overhead to protect you from the sun, and the entire cockpit area can be enclosed in the event of rain. The cockpit is at deck level, so you don't need to climb in or out of it you simply walk through the aft entry opening to the deck beyond.
Each hull has wide stern steps leading down to the water for swimming or diving, with a fold-down stainless steel ladder. You can enter the dinghy easily, thanks to the design of the boarding platform, which is the same height as the dinghy's inflatable tubes. A fresh-water hot and cold shower is located at each stern platform, so you can rinse off after swimming.
Sun lovers particularly enjoy the large forward trampolines and seats built into the bow railing each side. This is a very popular spot both at anchor and under sail. Directional Bose speakers mounted on the mast can play music for your enjoyment. Due to the massive sails, there's usually some shade from the sun on one side of the boat or the other when under way.
Pelican has twin engines for reliability under power, two generators to assure you of electricity whenever needed, and a large (65 gallons per hour) water maker to provide an uninterrupted water supply throughout your charter. She points higher into the wind than most cruising sailboats and sails faster, all without noticeable heel and without the fuss of a conventional sailboat. Her performance never ceases to surprise experienced charter guests (and the other boats as you pass them)!

Each guest cabin has its own flat-screen TV driven by a Sony Playstation2, which enables you to watch DVD movies, listing to music CDs or play games. Fantasy Island carries a variety of card and board games for your enjoyment, including Chess and Checkers, Backgammon, Monopoly, Jenga, Scrabble, Pictionary, Uno and more.

Paul has had a love for life on the water since a very young age sailing, surfing, competitive kite boarding and scuba diving. Being near or on the water has always been of great importance to him. Captaining boats up to 65 feet and hosting guests aboard is second nature to him. In 2010, Paul acquired the S/V Seaker, an Islander 30 moored in Seattle, Washington. After six years of ownership he has restored her from the keel up, learning many useful skills along the way. Paul has had the opportunity to lead sailing charters alongside his chef, first mate Eva Mrak-Blumberg in their home waters of the Puget Sound to Italy, Greece, Croatia, Sweden and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. You can also find Paul and Eva sailing the US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands year round aboard S/V Pelican, a 58ft catamaran based out of Saint Thomas.
When not living a nautical life, Paul works in New York City as a documentary photographer and lighting director in the fashion industry. He is also a well recognized teacher of outdoor photography, kiteboarding and sailing who happily shares his knowledge and experience to guest on board.

With more than 25,000 sea miles working as head chef for many dynamic, world-traveling, charter/expedition yachts over the past 7 years in such locations as the; United States, Caribbean, Bahamas, New Zealand, Panama, Belize, Indonesia and the South Pacific. Including Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Marshall Islands, Lauren brings all this experience directly to you on SV Pelican.
Lauren’s passions revolve around thoughtfully created dishes based on your preferences, while incorporating International flavors with fresh, seasonal, and unique local ingredients into each and every meal.
