We wanted a wonderful quiet, fun, peaceful, scenic, slightly pampered get away week of sailing around the Virgin Islands.
(We are seasoned travelers and wanted off the grid for a week- well not entirely- we did peak at iPhones a bit.)
I had taken a similar sail in 2012 and really enjoyed the trip, so my expectations were high for Deborah and me. This was my 7th time to St John area. Cap'n John and Susan were most accomodating in every way.
The boat is wonderful- very comfortable with plenty of privacy for the two of us. Sleeping with the hatch up and being awakened by gentle rain drops in the night was a special treat. Deborah and I even saw a shooting star at 2.00 am as we were sitting up top taking in the beautiful night sky.
The boat was always tidy and well-maintained, but we felt right at home, not like stepping into a museum. We stayed in some incredible bays during the nights and experienced the fun of sailing in these waters.
Cap'n John and Susan generously showed us some of the local venues for eating and socializing. Watching the super bowl on the beach with the friendly group was most memorable. Susan guided us on a few hikes and provided just the right of explanation of the history. They gave us the space we sought but also I felt like we were sailing with 2 new friends.
Did I mention that the food was fabulous! I'm recommending the Sea Witch to my friends and next time (not soon enough) we go back to the Virgin Islands, for sure we are calling Cap'n John and Susan. I highly recommend the Sea Witch.

Capt John and Susan Brooks Stephenson were outstanding and very friendly, joining us on many of our expeditions and showing us the best places to swim snorkel, scuba dive, shop and eat at the lowest cost.
They both went well beyond what would normally be expected on a charter and made our sailing holiday outstanding. Susan booked the BVI sailing school for four training dives for Jamie so she could get her open water scuba diving certificate. John (a dive master) took the trouble to borrow two scuba tanks and equipment so that he could accompany Jamie on an open water dive from the yacht exceeding 45 minutes much to her delight.
Susan booked a spa treatment for Jamie and me and dinner for all of us at the Dix Bay resort and also arranged for a hire car to tour the island and showed us many interesting places. (In fact we did not eat at Dix Bay as they would not take American Express Travelers Checks. I am still awaiting an explanation from the management for this).
John was very caring and helpful to me in my senior years helping me on and off the boat and tender and making sure I was accompanied on the snorkeling and swimming trips it was very comforting. (He even caught me before I hit the ground when I slipped off a large bolder perhaps saving me from breaking my wrist again).
Jamie and I returned to Canada feeling very relaxed and happy. It was a wonderful holiday, perhaps the best ever.
Thank you John and Susan.

The Best thing about Sea Witch is Captain John and Susan.
They were very easy to be with for 10 days, loved every minute of it!! The moment we arrived on Sea Witch we felt their warm hospitality. They are very friendly, fun to snorkel and hike with. We really enjoyed snorkeling in Virgin Gorda at the Bitter End and Benure's Bay, Norman Island. The hike from Biras Creek to the Bitter End Yacht Club was exhilarating with beautiful views.
Susan is a great cook and her food was delicious. This was our first sailing charter and the experience was totally relaxing. Susan and John were perfect hosts, it's hard to say goodbye to new friends so Au Revois!! We would recommend sailing on Sea Witch to everyone!
Until next time, we would love to return one day! We hope to see Captain John and Susan in Martha's Vineyard!!

We have been fortunate to be able to travel extensively over the years. Our sailing vacation on the Sea Witch was absolutely one of our favorites. You would find it impossible to not be impressed. From Captain John's incredible sailing expertise to Susan's exquisite menu an awesome on board experience. A fun, unique adventure...beautiful islands, interesting people, amazing sights, fantastic snorkeling everywhere we visited, such incredible sea life, we especially enjoyed snorkeling the caves on Norman Island...a must if you have the opportunity.
Awesome hike on Norman followed by a great lunch at the Pirate Bight. Music and dancing at Willy T's floating bar on Norman Island and Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke...great nights of fun!.
Kayaking along the coast of Jost. Renting a golf cart on Water Island was a great way to see the Island and the fort, what incredible views! A little shopping in St. John and Tortola. Truly something for everyone!
An experience we will forever treasure!!! Cannot wait to do this again!!!
Really, Really enjoyed Susan and John. We always felt safe on board because of their knowledge of the boat and sailing. They always made sure we were comfortable and well attended to. We would rate our overall travel experience aboard Sea Witch 4+ out of 5.

Speaking for myself and Peter, the time on Sea Witch FAR exceeded our expectations.
We thought it would be fun, but John and Susan went above and beyond what we ever expected. They took into consideration what we wanted to do, then made recommendations to make things even better. They were always offering drinks and snacks, as well as being available for dingy transport to beaches, snorkeling, and even Willie T's.
The meals were amazingSusan is a fantastic cook and consistently turned out meals that looked like magazine photos.
They were both so easy-going and just wanted us to have a great time. Thanks to emails from both you and Susan, there were no surprises and the trip went totally smoothly.
It truly was the trip of a lifetime and I would definitely recommend a charter on Sea Witch unreservedly.

I can't believe our time is over!!
This had been a lifelong dream and you made it come true. But your kind and gracious hospitality made it beyond our expectations. Thank you so very much. Thank you for all you did for us and especially those efforts to make Jonathon's trip go well special menu items, extra fishing efforts, the cute movie and just the day to day, hour by hour, minute to minute kindness. You both have a special gift and we thank you for sharing it with us. "and do not forget to do good and to share of others, for with such sacrifice's God is pleased". Hebrews 13:16. Your truly exemplify self-sacrifice and serving of others.
We are grateful for our time with you. That you worked together so well to serve others and that you have one another. We wish you both the best in the days ahead through the beautiful blue sky and through the squalls. Set your course and we pray that you are guided safely day by day.
Thanks again for caring for us so well and for the wonderful memories for our lifetime.
