Captain Mayon Hight
A sea gypsy with a wanderlust soul, Captain Glen is a Canadian born, American expat that has been based out of the
Virgin Islands for almost 20 years, and calls his world voyaging sailing yacht home. Glen lives to travel, exploring the
world and diverse cultures, thriving on good vibes and positive energy. Nurturing his lifelong love of the water, his
sailing adventures include the entire Caribbean Basin, South America, Central America, transiting the Panama Canal,
the entire South Seas of the vast Pacific, New Zealand, Australia, and exotic South East Asia. Having had thousands of
salty nautical miles slip under his keel, Captain Glen’s seemingly endless exciting new experiences has left him with
countless tales of the tropical seas to share!
Raised in Oakville, Ontario, but never adjusting to the freezing temperatures of his homeland, he immigrated to the
United States at the age of 20. No longer able to tolerate the cold Florida winters after 7 years, Glen determined the
need to continue his progression into the littler latitudes. Seeking a lifestyle change, at the height of his “professional
career” as a Regional Director of Finance in the Resort industry, Glen “demoted” himself by requesting a transfer to a
property in St. Thomas, which he managed for 3 ½ years. Glen has successfully managed various luxury boutique..read more
resorts throughout the Caribbean, including the islands of Vieques, Puerto Rico, Virgin Gorda, Bermuda, St. Lucia,
Jamaica, Dominica, and Nevis, where during his tenure as General Manager of the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, the
resort received several accolades including #1 Resort in the Caribbean according to TripAdvisor & Conde Nast Traveler.
Throughout his epic adventures, Glen’s heart has remained in the Virgins, where he has returned to share his love of
sailing and passion for the sea with you, content to give his live aboard world cruising yacht a well deserved rest. Glen
has an extensive and intimate knowledge of the waters, people, and places of all the Virgin Islands (U.S., British, &
Spanish) His familiarity includes all the anchorages, snorkel and dive sites, land and sea highlights, hiking locations,
and beach bars to share with you. He has been fortunate to develop countless friendships and acquaintances, with
locals and expats alike, throughout the Virgin Islands.
Captain Glen has proven to be a successful captain, whether exploring the most remote tropical cruising
grounds of the World, while circumnavigating aboard his private yacht, or back “home” in the blissful sailing
paradise of the US and British Virgin Islands. Glen makes it a priority to ensure that your adventure is custom
tailored to your needs and desires to make this your trip of a lifetime!
