Austin & Philippa
From Greensville South Carolina, Austin was boating before he could walk. Fishing, wake boarding, diving and sailing are all second nature to him. He has maintained a fleet of charter yachts in the BVI and captained several charter yachts in BVI, always with excellent results.
Austin has logged over 1500 miles in the USVI and BVI and knows the very best spots to cater to your interests and activity preferences. From the best snorkel, dive and fishing sites to calm quiet bays to try out the paddle boards and all of the water toys, Austin has it covered. And for those looking for a little more excitement on the water, Austin is happy to give wake board lessons or taking you on the most fun tube ride ever.
Being a true buccaneer he can also deliver you to hopping beach bars for the happiest of happy hours or spin the sails and whisk you to a secluded anchorage, serving up cocktails while you relax and watch the sun slip away after another magical day.
From Belfast, Northern Ireland, chef Philippa moved to Portugal and worked at a dive center before navigating her way to BVI as 2nd chef and dive instructor aboard a 105ft crewed yacht catering for 27 guests. Philippa wanted to acquire greater culinary skills, so she enrolled in the Ashburton Chef Academy in Devonshire, England. There she went from being a cook to a professional chef.
Philippa has spent countless hours exploring the islands and knows many of the great spots to dive, snorkel, hike, drink and eat! She cannot wait to welcome you aboard and share her insider tips of the best that the BVI has to offer with you! Little known fact: Philippa is the current undefeated FoosBall Champion of the BVI and gladly accepts a challenge from anyone.See reviews

Peter and Caroline were extremely friendly. Both were very attentive to us and the 6 teenagers that we bought with us. Both had patience of a saint when it came to the 3 teenage boys and 3 teenage girls.
The boat was clean and very comfortable, plenty of room for 8 people and crew.
Food was excellent and nicely presented. We had some kids that were afraid to try new foods however Caroline was very accommodating in making different meals for those that were more "picky".
The itinerary was great. We hit the main spots and even got to take in some new spots we have never been too. Peter put the safety of his passengers and crew in mind when we planned each day.
We would definitely recommend Sailing Directions to any friends that may consider a sailing vacation.

Peter & KC were amazing! They were friendly, accommodating, attentive and a joy to be around.
We were extremely impressed with the Flying Ginny. All of the spaces were extremely clean, comfortable and well ventilated. Peter was very attentive to making sure the common and private areas were always tidy.
The food KC prepared was fantastic! Every meal was gourmet and the presentations were feasts for the eyes. She was great at coming out to tell us what the meals were and how she prepared them. We are still in awe over what she was able to do in a small kitchen.
The BVI itinerary was perfect! Peter was great at sitting down with us on the first day to go over the itinerary he thought would work best. He was also open to making slight changes to the itinerary along the way.
Were you happy with Sailing Directions' service? Yes, we were very happy! Anytime we emailed a question to you, we received a response immediately.

We had a great time aboard The Flying Ginny. Captain Peter and Ruth were great hosts and the food was excellent. The Vessel was well equipped and was perfect for our trip. Peter went out of his way to make sure we were totally satisfied and we would definitely consider sailing again with them. The help provided by you and Sailing Directions was much appreciated and I know we would not have made the trip if it were not for your company and your guidance. Thanks again it was wonderful.

What is a typical day like?
Wake up to a delightful breakfast from the chef's galley. After breakfast, relax in the sun with a book or go for a swim or snorkel. Then set sail for a new destination. Generally it is only an hour or two sail to get to a great lunch spot, for snorkeling, or beaching, or shopping, or hiking, or kayaking, or other watersports.
After lunch, set sail again for an hour or two to arrive at our overnight anchorage. Happy hour and appetizers late in the day, then later, dinner, wine and dessert served al fresco in the cockpit.
If the mood is right, it's off to a beach bar for some fun and dancing OR it's off to the foredeck for stargazing OR sit around the cockpit for story telling and games. Sleep comes easy on Flying Ginny.
