Kyle

Your skipper, Captain Kyle, has been in the salt his entire life. Growing up a New Englander, Kyle began working in the waters off the coast of New Hampshire in lobster boats, eventually finding his way into sailing tall ships. After attending Emerson College and graduating with a B.F.A., he soon realized it’s hard to make money as an artist. He then returned to the water and has been sailing professionally ever since. Captain Kyle knows these waters like the back of his hand having spent seven years chartering the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. Now back after a two year hiatus working as a licensed officer aboard National Geographic expedition ships from Alaska to Baja California Sur, he longed to return to his roots sailing on a more intimate and personal scale. He strives to deliver a safe trip while ensuring his guests have the most fun and memorable time of their lives.

Tim

Your First Mate/Chef, Tim, has achieved his life’s aspiration. After working nearly a decade in landlocked, stressful kitchens, he was ready for a change. Tim began his career working under one of the United States’ top chefs, Carl McConnell. During this time, Tim honed his skills by working endless hours preparing James Beard-nominated dishes. After attending culinary school and furthering his education, Tim decided to leave the nest and see the world. He left the Midwest and headed for the seas, working for the prestigious eco-tourism company National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions. He takes pleasure in bringing guests together with his family-style dining approach or by wowing them with his expertly plated prix-fixe dishes. As an avid scuba diver, adventurer, and naturalist, Tim would love for you to join him snorkeling in the Caribbean reefs, then allowing him to prepare your favorite dishes as you enjoy cocktails staring out into the serene blue waters. ..read more

These two best buds met working on the National Geographic ships. While sailing the west coasts of North and Central America, they dreamed up a plan to explore the Caribbean while providing guests with expert-level hospitality. Their combined passions for water, excellent service, and having a good time have led them to partnering up and sharing these passions with their guests. Let them show you the captivating Caribbean waters and give you the experience of a lifetime.

Come aboard as their guest. Leave as their friend.

Reviews for Nadiya with previous crew:

Jim and sherry were wonderful! They made the trip! We all felt very comfortable with them, very friendly and laid back. Could not have asked for anything better.

Nadiya was perfect. Very clean and decorated nicely. Ventilation was not a problem, perfect sea breezes through our hatch.

The food was amazing! Every meal and snack and dessert was very tasty with great presentation.

Every day and everywhere they took us just got better and better as the week went on!

Sailing Directions was very attentive and timely with emails and responses. I wish I could go again!

Reviews for Colleen & Matt aboard previous yachts:

Colleen and Matt were extremely professional and friendly. They were a lot of fun too. They took great care of us but they also took a lot of pride in the yacht, which we appreciated. They had all kinds of information and stories about the areas we visited and made recommendations for excursions, restaurants, shopping and hikes.

Colleen was an excellent captain and always went out of her way to ensure we had the best mooring spots and avoided cruise ship crowds.

Matt was very accommodating with our group of advanced divers and had plenty of equipment on board for us to use.

They were always asking if we needed anything, and at the end of the trip they planned a little surprise party for our 20th anniversary and our friend's birthday, complete with decorations, which was really nice. One night they even hosted a movie night complete with popcorn.

Firefly was very clean, comfortable and well ventilated. We appreciated having a shower/head in each room. The rooms were a great size and the beds were comfortable. The colors were really bright and fun which was beautiful when we sailed and they had comfortable bean bags on the trampoline. We booked this yacht because of the SCUBA tanks on board. Many boats did not have that. We enjoyed the transparent kayak, the lily pad and the paddle boards too.

Yes. The food was plentiful and exceeded our expectations and the presentation was lovely. Each day we had a menu with a "mood of the day" theme. That was really fun. Matt went out of his way to make special accommodations for specific requests. He made his own ice cream and it was fantastic. The bar was also very well stocked with everything we requested and some additional items we did not request but were pleased we could try like the local flavored rums and a themed cocktail each day.

Our favorites were the natural attractions such as trails on St. John (Annaberg) and the Baths on Virgin Gorda and the tour to Hog Heaven for the views. The two wreck dives (Rhone and Kodiak Queen) were really fun as was the dive near Scrub Island (I think it was the Dogs) because we saw the most wildlife there.
