Pelican, previously named Fantasy Island, raises the bar for affordable luxury charters! This exciting 58ft catamaran's sleek lines, high tech construction and modern interior have earned her the prestigious award of "Best Cruising Catamaran of 2003" from Cruising World Magazine, and she sails just as fast as she looks!
Clever design gives Pelican more usable space than many yachts her size, allowing her to accommodate up to 10 guests in air-conditioned staterooms with four queen-sized beds and one double-sized room all with vacuum-flush bathrooms. The crew has separate accommodation and bathroom.
The salon is open and spacious and includes the galley, with serving counter, a bar and comfortable seating. You can watch a movie on the larger flat-screen TV with Bose sound system, listen to some good music, or just relax in air-conditioned comfort. There's also full-time Internet access and a phone for your convenience. At night, recessed LED lighting provides a dramatic effect.
Just aft of the salon is the cockpit area with dining tables on both sides. The cockpit has a permanent carbon-fiber bimini overhead to protect you from the sun, and the entire cockpit area can be enclosed in the event of rain. The cockpit is at deck level, so you don't need to climb in or out of it you simply walk through the aft entry opening to the deck beyond.
Each hull has wide stern steps leading down to the water for swimming or diving, with a fold-down stainless steel ladder. You can enter the dinghy easily, thanks to the design of the boarding platform, which is the same height as the dinghy's inflatable tubes. A fresh-water hot and cold shower is located at each stern platform, so you can rinse off after swimming.
Sun lovers particularly enjoy the large forward trampolines and seats built into the bow railing each side. This is a very popular spot both at anchor and under sail. Directional Bose speakers mounted on the mast can play music for your enjoyment. Due to the massive sails, there's usually some shade from the sun on one side of the boat or the other when under way.
Pelican has twin engines for reliability under power, two generators to assure you of electricity whenever needed, and a large (65 gallons per hour) water maker to provide an uninterrupted water supply throughout your charter. She points higher into the wind than most cruising sailboats and sails faster, all without noticeable heel and without the fuss of a conventional sailboat. Her performance never ceases to surprise experienced charter guests (and the other boats as you pass them)!
Purified drinking water made on board.
Reusable water bottles available for use on board.

We cannot say enough great things about our charter on Pelican. Our crew was outstanding, 5 stars! Lovely people, excellent at their job, great ease at making all of us comfortable and fed us beautiful, delicious, healthy meals that were beyond expectations.
The boat provided plenty of space where 9 of us could easily feel comfortable. Our rooms were cozy and we slept just fine after adjusting to being on water.
Our group utilized the paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear and floating mats daily. Everyone also enjoyed having the front of the catamaran to lay out on and relax either early morning sunrises or afternoon sunsets.
On our last night our captain Ty set up the inside TV so we could all sit around and watch the first episode of season 8 of Game of Thrones.
All Day Fun for 7 Days. My daughter and I had a fabulous dive at The Rhone where we saw 5 reef sharks, two eels, a giant lobster, schools of colorful fish and a lionfish. While moored in Caneel Bay we saw several spotted rays and a nurse shark. The sea life in the Virgin Island is absolutely spectacular.
Kristen G, aboard Catamaran Pelican April 2019 sailing the Virgin Islands
We all had the most incredible time.
We have nothing but praise for "Shawtumn". They're an amazing team - we always felt so well looked after. Autumn is an amazing cook. Always kept us on time so we didn't have to worry about anything. They read our group well and suggested excursions were always appreciated. I don't have any captains to compare Shawn to, but he seems to really know what he's doing and we all felt very safe. And added bonus - they're very fun to be around!
Pelican is very clean. A/C kept us comfortable at night. So many good places for lounging above deck.
The pre-cruise preference list was very helpful. The meals kept getting better and better. So impressive that Autumn can make that magic happen in such a small space.
Sailing Directions has great service, emails were always rapidly answered.
THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
