Meet the Crew

Philippe, Pascal & Malika

Captain: Philippe LE HEN, 42 years old

Languages: French, English

Diploma: Captain 500 - Mecanic diploma 750 KW

Philippe grew up in Brittany, and joined the army at 17 where he became a military mechanic. At 25 he left the army and travelled to the islands of Porquerolles and Levant in the Mediterranean, taking work transporting passengers to and from the islands . This led to him becoming the base charter man in the Mediterranean, managing a fleet of boats and handling Beneteau’s after-sales service.

He has qualifications both as Captain and maritime mechanic; has over 20 years experience as skipper and delivering boats and can turn his hand to maintaining fixed and mobile safety systems, repairing or welding different materials, and maintaining marine engines.

Also among Philippe’s skills are administration and accounts management for boat and crew.

He was the captain of an AZIMUT 62S, for 3 years, at which point the owner bought the new Lagoon 630, and he continued working for the same owner for several years.

He is an experienced and able Captain, is calm and unruffled, enjoys entertaining guests and pays attention to their needs.

In his free time Philippe is very sporty, and enjoys surfing, kiting, kayaking, swimming and running.

Chef: Pascal TANVIER, 53 years old

Nationality: French

Languages: French, English, Spanish and Italian..read more

Diploma: GSCA Cook exam – Captain 200 tons

Pascal was born in Paris and started sailing on windsurfs when he was a teenager.

During his first couple years, he was an instructor in sailing schools and holiday resorts. At 29 years old, he decided to step on yachts and worked on charter and private yachts.

While gaining valuable experience as a deckhand and then as a captain, cooking is where Pascal’s true passion and interest laid.

That’s the reason why, 4 years ago, he went back to school and passed cooking exams to work as a chef on board.

The last few years, between summer seasons on yachts, Free Spirits, Sunreef 70’, M/Y Winning Streak, Sunseeker 30’ or M/Y Lady Hertha, classic 30’, he travelled a lot, discovered new environments, and especially improved his cuisine knowledge to incorporate it in his dishes.

On Vigilant, his cooking is based in combining all this knowledge with fresh and delicatessen products.

Pascal looks forward to using his accumulated experience to provide delicious and nutritious meals for guests on board.

Hostess: Malika KERDIOUI, 37 years old

Nationality: French

Languages: French, English

Diploma: STCW Master 200 GT

Malika spent her childhood in Troyes, later settling in Marseille where she worked for 7 years at the Velodrome. Following this, and wanting to change her life, she spent two years travelling to find her way and learn from other cultures.

Back in Marseille, working in catamaran booking, Malika discovered the world of cruise ships, and a real passion for the sea emerged. She immersed herself in this world, passing her diplomas as a sailor and sailing as a stewardess in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and the United States, "on cruising yachts", for more than 2 years on yacht.

This rich experience, combined with her refined taste and attention to detail, enables her to welcome VIGILANT 1's clients with elegance and professionalism.

Smiling and enthusiastic, she offers impeccable service and contributes to the success of the cruises on VIGILANT 1.

Guests' comment from charter 21th - 28th July 2018, Propriano-Porto Cervo :
"We just arrived to Miami from Paris. Our week in Córcega and Cerdeña was Amazing. Philippe, Pascal and Malika were incredible always happy and nice with us and very respectful and professionals. We enjoy our week in a beautiful boat with a super nice Crew !!
Everything was perfect and the boat was beautiful too. We enjoy every day and had an incredible week."
Guests' comment, charter 7th to 14th July 2018, Nice-Nice
"The boat over delivered beyond our expectations. To go from 100ft motor yacht to a 60ft catamaran worried me that there wouldn’t be enough room. In fact there was more external sunbathing space and areas to dine. It also helped that the boat was in pristine condition only being 1 year old. The main salon had ample space and the bathroom was adequate although limited hanging space - but no big deal.

The other bedrooms were a bit small and bathroom space tiny but it didn’t spoil the holiday.

We loved the crew on board and they did a superb job. The food was nice and they accommodated our needs - Pascal is a lovely man. Philippe is one of the best captains we have experienced , he would always check exactly what we wanted to do each day and agreed timings - nothing was a problem - in fact everything he did was ‘Perfect’! Malinda is a lovely girl and she kept our rooms immaculately clean. She made great cocktails and made sure we had everything we needed.

It was good to see the crew work well together - they all helped when docking into harbour, hosting us throughout the day and evenings with food and drinks - (and dancing!!). They were good fun and easy to be around and were always smiling.

I would recommend this to other charterers as an alternative especially as it’s half the price and the only part you lose is bedroom space. It’s very comfortable and very beautiful."
Guests'comment, charter 23rd-30th June 2018, Antibes-Nice :
“All 3 crew couldn’t do enough for us. Captain Philippe was fantastic, especially with all the water sports, and the food was amazing. All three crew worked all day to ensure we had an unbelievable experience. The yacht was very clean and it was serviced all the time. Felt like a 5 star hotel. If we required air conditioning on Captain Philippe was happy to accommodate. The food was exceptional and the chef was happy to cater for our children’s basic food requirements as well. The South of France was magnificent and we especially enjoyed spending the day in the quiet coves. We couldn’t be happier with the service and experience and we are already talking about doing it again next year in a different location.”
Charter March 26 - April 2 , St Vincent - St Vincent: Guest's comment
"Everything was perfect!! We are experienced travellers and very picky and I have absolutely no complaints.
We would definitely charter the Vigilant again, hopefully in a few years in the summer to see some of the Mediterranean.
Thanks for all your help, we loved every minute! »
Broker's comment from charter February 17 – 20, 2018 St Martin-St Martin:

Thank-you for a great charter, the crew did an excellent job."
Broker's comment from Antigua Yacht Charter Show 2017
Thank you so much for inviting me to join you for dinner on board VIGILANTE 1 while we were Antigua. The food you prepared was simply delicious – a really exquisite dinner with perfect balance of flavours between each of the courses. My view was obviously shared by the culinary competition judges as you waltzed away with first prize for both your cooking ability and table laying. Congratulations!

It was so nice to be able to meet you all properly and spend a bit of time chatting. The wines you chose for the meal were a perfect pairing. VIGILANT 1 looked fantastic, with so much attention to detail in both general finish and presentation. She’s certainly an excellent example of the Lagoon 63o and you are the perfect crew to complement her.
